How to Replace the Seats in a 2005 Ford F150

Old seats in a Ford F-150 can be tattered, and may need to be replaced. You might be also considering aftermarket options, and you are trying to customize the interior of the truck. This could include custom order seats, or you need to change something else, like the carpeting, and the seats are simply in the way. For whatever reason, the old seats can be easily be removed with a little bit of effort.

Things You'll Need

  • Socket wrench
  • Trim removal tool
  • Open the driver and passenger doors. Slide both seats as far forward as possible.

  • Climb into the back seat and remove any trim panels with either a screwdriver or a trim removal tool. A screwdriver is not the most ideal choice, but if you use one, do not violently force the trim off. This will expose the bolts beneath. Remove these bolts with a socket wrench.

  • Tilt one seat forward and unfasten any electrical components. Do the same on the remaining front seat.

  • Climb out of the Ford and carefully lift the front seats out.

  • Locate the bolts holding the rear seat to the floor. Remove these bolts with a socket wrench. Unlike the front seats, you should not have to worry about undoing any electrical components.

  • Pull the detached rear seat forward. Climb out of the Ford truck and lift the rear seat out.
