How to Install a Folding Jump Seat

Folding jump seats are a tried and tested design and have been produced for almost three decades now. Jump seats are made of the strongest ranking poly-fiber fabric, which ensures sturdiness and durability. These seats are usable as a cover, and also serve the purpose of secondary lightweight upholstery. This upholstery tends to match the interiors of the car and its installation is very simple. They are lightweight and can be removable or fixed. You can opt for single seating or multiple seating options based on the space available.

Things You'll Need

  • Tool box
  • Jump seat

Getting Started

  • Decide where you want to place the jump seat. Usually the jump seat is placed in a position between the tank and wheel well. You have to remove the small bolt here, which is very easy to see. Reach up toward the top of this tank and then pull downward and frontward.

  • Remove the screws and the seat bracket, which has an attached seat pad. This will ensure that you are able to place the jump seat in the vehicle at your convenience.

  • Install the seat. When installing a jump seat, you should remember to hold it at an angle. The seat should be then hit with an open fist to ensure that you don't remove any of the lines that are attached to the tank. You should also be careful not to yank the tank out very far. This can lead to the disconnection of the fuel lines or can cause breakage in the small plastic nipples of the tank.

  • Setting up the jump seat includes the alignment of the back pad and replacing the remaining screws to ensure that seat does not come off. Pull the seat slightly to see if the installation has been done correctly.

  • Add a seat belt to the jump seat for the added safety of those using it.
