When restoring an old truck, you have to often deal with lots of different issues, including restoring the interior. The dash pad is typically the first thing to go, because of its proximity to the windshield and sun rot. Fortunately, installing a new dash pad isn't difficult, and can be done in an hour or so with the right tools. In this case, the project vehicle is a 1972 Chevrolet C-10, but the process is similar for other vehicles as well.
Crawl underneath the dashboard and unbolt the dash pad from the metal dash board. This may take some contortionist maneuvers, but you should be able to reach the bolts with an extension.
Lift off the stock dash pad and set it to the side. Then slide the replacement dash pad onto the vehicle and line it up with the factory bolt holes.
Bolt the replacement dash pad to the metal dashboard using the 3/8-inch ratchet, extension and socket.
