How to Remove the Rear View Mirror on a Nissan Frontier

The Nissan Frontier is the successor to the Nissan Hardbody, the little truck that was built for over 15 years and was fairly successful. This latest-generation mini-truck had more options, more luxury features and more power than the previous generation. But if you own a Frontier and you want some next-gen options such as the power mirror or compass in some models, you'll need to remove your stock mirror. Doing it doesn't take a lot of tools, but it can be a touch frustrating, taking five to ten minutes to complete.

Things You'll Need

  • Small flathead screwdriver
  • Sit in the driver's seat and position your head underneath the rear view mirror, tight against the windshield, so that you can see the bottom of the mirror mount. Look for the small slot in the bottom of the mount.

  • Slide the screwdriver into the slot on the bottom of the mount and apply light pressure. There is a small tab on the inside of the mount that releases the clip on the mirror, and that's what you're trying to get.

  • Wiggle the mirror with one hand while applying pressure to the screwdriver with the other. This may require some fidgeting with the screwdriver to get the mirror off, but be patient and it will come off eventually.
