How to Obtain the 12 Digit ESN Number From the Radio on a 2011 Ford Escape

The Escape arrived as a part of Ford's 2001 lineup as a smaller alternative to the Explorer. The 2008 model year brought about a redesign that toughened up the Escape's somewhat soft appearance. The 2011 Escape comes standard with an AM-FM, CD-player stereo system and has optional SiriusXM satellite radio available. To receive the SiriusXM channels, you must activate the radio, which requires giving SiriusXM the radio's electronic serial number. You can access the radio's ESN with the push of just two buttons.

  • Insert the key into the Escape's ignition and turn it to the "On" position -- you may start the vehicle, if you like.

  • Turn the Ford's radio on by pressing the button in the center of the "Vol" knob.

  • Press and release the "Sirius" button on the lower, right side of the radio to enter satellite radio mode.

  • Press and hold the "Aux" and preset button "1" at the same time. Observe as a 12-digit number appears on the radio's display, this is the ESN.
