Powder coating allows you to paint surfaces and leave a professional-looking finish. The key is in electrostatically charged particles applied by a powder coating gun. The gun charges powder paint which then clings to the surface being painted. Powder coating several colors can be an unwieldy process but can be done in a similar way as just powder coating one color---with a few different steps.
Pre-heat your oven to 400 degrees.
Sandblast or sandpaper your surface clean, making sure not to miss any spots. Any leftover paint or gunk on the surface of your metal or wood will leave bubbles in the finish.
Fill your powder coating gun with paint, according to your manufacturer's instructions.
Tape off any sections you do not want coated with this color.
Spray the first color onto your surface.
Peel off the excess tape, and stick your section into the oven for 15 minutes.
Spray on your second color, and cure it in the oven just as you did for the last color.
Continue to do this process of taping, spraying and curing with any more colors. Try to limit the number of colors you use to two or three.
Remove your tape. Your piece is now ready.
