How to Remove Road Paint from Cars

You were driving along and didn't see the orange cones warning you to stay off a certain section of the freshly line-painted street. Then you got home and noticed paint caked on the side of your car from the fresh road paint. This is no easy job, removing road paint, without taking off the car's finish as well. You want to stay away from lacquer removers and try some easier products first. After you do get the paint off, make sure to get the car washed and waxed to remove any trace elements of cleaner or road paint.

Things You'll Need

  • Soft scrub cleaner
  • Sponge
  • Plastic razor blade
  • Hair dryer
  • Rubbing compound
  • Hot water
  • Latex paint remover
  • Try heating up the road paint with a hair dryer and wiping it off. Make sure not to heat it up too hot, or your car's paint will come off too.

  • Try using hot water with some Softscrub cleanser and a sponge for teflon pans.

  • Try using rubbing compound, rubbing until the road paint comes off the car paint.

  • Get some plastic razor blades at an auto parts store. Try getting under the edge of the paint and peeling it off.
