How to Remove a 2001 Saturn L 200 Door Panel

If you want to replace a window motor, window regulator, door lock actuator or door speaker on a 2001 Saturn L200, you’ll first need to take off the door panel. The panel itself not only hides the door’s interior and adds to the overall aesthetics of the Saturn’s interior, it acts as a sound barrier to insulate the passenger compartment from outside noise. It also helps the environmental control system keep the ambient outside temperature from affecting the vehicle’s interior temperature. If you possess some basic mechanical skill, you can take the door panel off in less than 30 minutes.

Things You'll Need

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Trim tool
  • Remove the screws located along the bottom of the door panel with the Phillips screwdriver. Set the screws in a safe place.

  • Remove the two screws in the door panel’s pull handle with the Phillips screwdriver. Set the screws with the other ones.

  • Remove the screw behind the interior door lock switch with the Phillips screwdriver. Set it with the other screws.

  • Pry the black sail panel trim off from behind the side view mirror using the trim tool. Always use caution when prying on interior trim as it breaks very easily.

  • Pull the top trailing edge of the door panel out from the door and slip the end of the trim tool between the panel and the door.

  • Slide the trim tool down until you hit a trim pin and then pry that pin out with the trim tool. Continue moving down the panel, across the bottom and up the leading edge, removing trim pins as you encounter them with the trim tool until no pins are left anchored in the door.

  • Grab the front and rear of the panel with both hands and lift the door panel upward and off the door, making sure the inner door handle clears the hole in the panel before you pull the panel completely away from the door.
