Overspray, including spray paint and cleaner overspray, stains your automobile’s glass and causes a reduction in visibility, which can lead to a wreck and further buildup of dust and debris. But it is possible to remove overspray off your automobile’s glass without scratching or damaging the windows. When the removal process is complete, it is important to wash and rinse the entire automobile to remove any dust fragments left behind.
Mix 1/2 cup dish-washing liquid and 1/2 gallon warm water in a bucket. Wear latex gloves to keep your hands dry.
Use a funnel to guide the soap mixture into a 16-ounce spray bottle. Shake the spray bottle to mix the solution and then set the bottle to the side.
Spray the automobile glass with water from a water hose to remove any dust and dirt from the glass.
Mix 1 cup white vinegar and 2 cups cold water in a plastic container. Dip a soft, lint-free cloth or rag in the vinegar solution, wring out excess liquid and wipe the glass with the solution-soaked cloth or rag.
Shake the spray bottle containing the soap mixture again to mix the solution.
Spray the soap mixture on the overspray, then immediately wipe the glass with a clay bar. You will first feel the clay bar sticking to the overspray and then it will glide smoothly as it removes the overspray. Work in sections.
Respray the overspray and continue to wipe it with the clay bar until the glass is smooth and debris-free. Do not rub the clay bar over the glass without applying the soap mixture first — a dry clay bar can scratch the glass.
Wipe the glass clean with a paper towel. Spray the clay bar with the soap mixture and wipe it clean with a paper towel if the bar becomes soiled or turn over the clay bar to a clean side and continue using it.
Move to the next section of glass containing overspray and repeat Steps 2 through 4.
