Many swirls, also called spider webs, scratches and nicks on the surface of your Audi can be prevented by properly washing your car. The key word is "properly." Many Audi owners spend countless hours washing their car incorrectly. Then they find swirling on the car's surface and wonder what went wrong. It is important to use proper materials and proper methods to treat the paint with the respect it deserves and avoid damaging the polish.
Fill both buckets with clean water.
Park your Audi in a shaded area before beginning to wash, or wash it in the morning or evening when temperatures are cooler.
Begin with the tires. Use the large brush, a water hose and sprayer. Switch to the smaller brush to get behind the calipers. Use the lambs wool mitt to reach the backs of the spokes. Check the entire wheel and wash it to remove all of the dirt and grime.
Begin at the top of the Audi and spray the car from top to bottom to remove dirt and get the car wet.
Pick up the sponge, the shampoo and one of the buckets. Begin washing the Audi at the top of the car. Wash in a back and forth movement, not a circular pattern. Always wash in motions that will move along your car as the wind would when you are driving. Circular motions cause swirls.
Squeeze the sponge out after every section as you work your sponge around the car, continuing to work from the top to the bottom. Rinse the sponge in the second bucket of water.

Remove the water hose nozzle and rinse the car in a continuous flow of water after you have washed the entire Audi.
