How to Remove the Wipers on a Toyota Prius

Removing the wiper blades on your Toyota Prius is necessary if you need to remove build up or replace the rubber wiper blades because they are getting old. While on many cars the entire wiper arm is removed, on the Prius it is only necessary to remove the rubber wiper blades. This process is fairly simple and should only take a few minutes.

Things You'll Need

  • Toyota Prius
  • Locate the plastic cover at the base of the windshield wiper arm. Pull up to remove this piece.

  • Grasp the wiper arm assembly and pull it up and away from the windshield until you hear it lock into place at a 90-degree angle.

  • Hold the end of the wiper blade assembly with one hand. Locate the plastic part of the wiper blade assembly and hold it with your other hand.

  • Pull down on the rubber blade until the stopper on the end of the wiper blade assembly has been cleared, then slide the rubber blade out of the wiper assembly. You have now successfully removed the wipers from the Prius. You can either clean the assembly or replace the wiper blade with a new one.
