How to Install a Mustang Convertible Boot

Although the Ford Mustang has been in production for over 40 years as of 2011, the basic idea has not changed. Originally conceived as a sporty car based on an existing platform, the current Mustang still follows this concept. The Mustang is available in coupe and convertible body styles. The folding top on the convertible model is available with a boot. A boot is a cover that protects the top in its lowered position from wind buffeting, as well as making the folded top aesthetically pleasing.

  • Lower the convertible top.

  • Unfold the boot cover and place it over the lowered convertible top.

  • Hook the two retaining clips at the rear of the boot under the rear body panel lip to the rear of the convertible top.

  • Slide the front part of the driver's side of the boot under the rear quarter trim panel, then hook the retaining clip under the side body panel near the rear seat back. Repeat for the passenger side of the boot.

  • Tuck the bottom front corners of the boot behind the shoulder belts on each side. Hook the two boot retaining straps to the hooks behind each side of the rear seat back.
