Sometimes it becomes necessary to remove the back seat of your car. It could be that you have small children and need to find the secure points for car seats or that something has dropped down under the seat and you need to get it out. Maybe you are going to reupholster the seats or you want to add custom seat covers. Whatever the reason, it is an easy job to remove the back seat on your Contour that you can achieve with little stress in less than 30 minutes.
Pull the front seats all the way forward. Open one of the side doors and get in the back seat.
Pull up on the bottom seat cushion and the seat will pop up. It is held in place by just a few plastic pressure clips.
Locate and remove the seat belts, which are held on by the bit torx-type bolts. Remove these bolts, using the bit torx tool set.
Remove the bottom cushion from the car.
Locate the two other torx bolts from either side of the seat back and the one in the middle back and remove them. Take the seat back out of the Contour.
