The Removal of Sticky Residue From Window Tinting

Once the adhesive under your window tint ages and dries out, it can cause your tinting to bubble up and look unattractive. Removing window tint can turn into an arduous process. Moreover, once you finish removing the actual tinting, you're invariably left with the sticky adhesive residue it leaves behind. You can solve your problems using a few household items, and with a little elbow grease you'll be driving away with clean windows.

Things You'll Need

  • Glass cleaner
  • Razor blades
  • Drop cloth
  • Saturate the adhesive with glass cleaner by spraying the entire window several times. Do not let the adhesive dry out as you continue to work.

  • Scrape the adhesive with the edge of a razor blade. Keep the razor at a 40-degree angle to the window, moving with the curve of the window.

  • Safely discard razor blades as soon as they become dull, and continue to work with a fresh blade. Work slowly to prevent scratches and ensure that you remove all the adhesive thoroughly.

  • Once you have removed all the adhesive, spray the window with glass cleaner again and wipe it clean with a soft cotton drop cloth.
