How to Reset a Rabbit Service Light on a 2008 VW

The service light in your 2008 VW Rabbit serves to alert you when your car is in need of maintenance. A licensed mechanic or dealer will reset this light after they have finished performing the maintenance that triggered the light. However, if you choose to do the maintenance yourself, you need to know how to reset the service light in order to turn it off after you have performed the necessary maintenance.

  • Enter the VW Rabbit with the ignition key.

  • Close the door.

  • Hold down the odometer trip reset button. This button is on the right side of your instrument panel.

  • Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "ACC" position.

  • Wait for the wrench symbol to illuminate, then release the button.

  • Press the "MIN" button on the left side of the instrument panel.

  • Wait 10 seconds, then remove the key from the ignition and exit the VW.
