If your Chevy Blazer's wiper system does not work, not only will it affect visibility while driving, but the Blazer will fail its yearly inspection. Working wipers are a safety issue. A bent or broken wiper arm will need to be replaced, and installing a new arm on a Blazer will only take a few seconds. This repair job can be completed easily in your home garage, and all you need is a socket wrench.
Turn on the Blazer's electrical system and turn on the wipers for two seconds. You will want them to stop in the middle of the windshield.
Remove the wiper blade from the arm if you plan on keeping it. Lift the wiper arm to a vertical position. Undo the safety clip at the center of the blade and pull the blade assembly off the arm. Set it aside for later use.
Remove the covering at the base of the wiper arm.
Remove the nut with a 13mm attachment on a socket wrench. You will want to do this while holding the arm with your free hand.
Set the nut aside and pull the arm off of the bolt.
Place the new arm on the bolt and refasten the nut with the socket wrench.
Reattach the wiper blade assembly. Align the center connector on the assembly with the hook at the end of the new wiper arm. Pull the assembly onto the arm. You should hear a click as the safety clip locks into place. Lower the blade to the windshield.
