The sun visor found over the driver and passenger windows of autos helps prevent sun glare and unsafe driving conditions. These visors attach to the ceiling or lip above the inner windshield; they have a hook attachment where the visor rests without hanging over the glass. Over time the hooks require repair and fixing. Buy a replacement kit if the original visor cannot be repaired.
Push the visor down so it is in the sun-shading position. Tighten the restraining screws if the visor is loose; the screws are located on the metal attachment neck on the side of the visor attachment housing. Push the visor up and down to check if the tightened screws mended the situation.
Peel a 1-inch strip of duct tape off the roll. Open the visor so it is off the attachment hook and can swing toward the side window. Wrap the tape around the metal arm that fits in the plastic attachment hook at the lip of the ceiling. Push the visor back into the resting position; push it into the attachment hook. The increased diameter of the metal arm should hold the visor in position.
Pull down on the visor to release the duct-taped bar. Move the visor up and down several times and place the taped bar in the hook. Push the taped bar into the hook several times; it should rest in the arm in a snug and firm fashion.
Unscrew all the attachment screws on the broken visor. Remove the visor and attachment hook from the car ceiling.
Screw in the new attachment hook and visor; align the holes in the hook and visor with the holes in the car's ceiling and above the windshield. Push the visor up and down to check that it is functioning properly.
Swing the visor arm to the side of the window to test the swing function. Tighten the swing-set screw if the visor feels loose. Push the visor back into the resting position on the hook.
