The rear wiper assembly should be checked frequently for any signs of wear or damage. If the wiper blades are cracked or worn, they should be replaced in order to restore visibility at the rear of the vehicle. A damaged wiper blade can also separate from the mounting arm, scratching the rear glass. Replacing the rear wiper blade on your Jeep does not take any special skills or tools and you should be done in just a minute or two.
Determine the type of wiper arm assembly your vehicle is equipped with. Jeeps that were manufactured in 1995 and earlier use a pin-and-pivot system, while jeeps built after 1995 use a plastic-spring assembly.
Remove the pin-and-pivot wiper assembly by gently turning the pivot in a counterclockwise direction, while pulling up on the wiper assembly. On plastic-spring assemblies, use the small screwdriver to compress the plastic release spring, while sliding the wiper assembly off the wiper arm.
Remount the new wiper blades of either design by sliding the new wiper assembly into place until it is seated and locked into position. Wet the windshield and check the blade assembly for proper operation.
