How to Replace a Solara Fog Light

When your Toyota Solara fog lights burn out, driving in inclement weather becomes more difficult. Without the increased visibility, you may struggle to see the road clearly. You can access the bulbs in the fog light assembly easily at home, with no need to have a dealership replace the bulbs. Buy a 9145 bulb at an auto parts retailer or Toyota dealership and replace the bulbs in minutes.

Things You'll Need

  • Jack
  • Jack stands
  • Raise the front of your Solara with a jack. Lower the car onto jack stands so you can access the underside easily and safely.

  • Reach behind the Solara’s front bumper to the rear of the fog light assembly. Pull the wiring harness connection back to disconnect it from the bulb. Grasp the retaining ring on the fog light bulb and turn it counterclockwise. Remove the ring from the bulb socket.

  • Pull the bulb out of the assembly. Insert a new bulb into the fog light assembly and replace the retaining ring. Turn the retaining ring clockwise to secure the Solara’s new fog light bulb. Push the wiring harness connection back together until it clicks.

  • Repeat the process on the opposite fog light bulb if it needs to be replaced. Raise the Solara slightly with a jack. Remove the jack stands and lower the car to the ground.
