How to Remove the Windshield Wiper Arms on a Chevy

Wiper arms control the efficiency of your windshield wiper blades. Without the proper angle and pressure, your blades may not clean your window properly, elevating your chances of having an accident during bad weather. Wiper arms are constantly exposed to the elements and may need to be replaced at some point during your Chevy's life. Effecting your own wiper arm removal is simple and will save you an expensive repair.

Things You'll Need

  • Flat-head screwdriver
  • Socket wrench
  • Socket set
  • Spray lubricant
  • Pull the wiper arm away from the window, noting the position of the wiper.

  • Spray the socket bolt (if the arm is not held on by a release lever) with some spray lubricant which may help in getting the bolt off.

  • Remove the socket bolt with a socket wrench and remove the arm from its socket.

  • For a release lever-style socket, use a flat-head screwdriver to pry the release lever outwards and then remove the arm from its socket.
