How to Remove a Headlamp From a 2001 Dodge RAM

If your 2001 Dodge Ram has a burnt out bulb, you may be tempted to take the truck to a repair shop to have the bulb replaced. If you have an extra ten minutes, though, you can change the bulb yourself and save on labor charges. The Dodge designers have made the task of changing a headlight bulb simple and straightforward.

Things You'll Need

  • Replacement headlight bulb
  • Clean cloth
  • Open the hood of the Dodge Ram. Locate the back of the headlight assembly near the front of the corner of the truck.

  • Grasp the electrical connector tab connected to the back of the headlight assembly. Turn the connector tab counterclockwise until it releases. Pull the connector out of the assembly. The headlight bulb is connected to the opposite end.

  • Pull the old bulb out of the connector. Cover the glass of the new bulb with a clean cloth. Insert the new bulb into the connector.

  • Replace the electrical connector in the headlight assembly. Turn it clockwise until it locks into place.

  • Start the Dodge Ram and turn on the headlights. Check the headlights to make sure the new bulb is working properly. Turn off the headlights and the engine. Close the hood.
