How to Remove Windshield Road Grime

It's easy for windshields to attract and hold onto whatever the road has to throw at them, especially during the winter. It doesn't take long for grime to adhere and cause an unsightly mess that not only looks bad but can obstruct vision and cause safety issues. There are several proven methods that can cut through road grime and not damage the windshield in the process.

Things You'll Need

  • Vinegar Soft clean cloth SOS pad Isopropyl alcohol Bon Ami cleanser Baking soda
  • Mix a solution of equal parts vinegar and water. Using a soft clean cloth and the solution, gently wash the dirt and debris away and rinse the windshield with clear water.

  • Use an SOS pad to cut through tough debris and buildup. Dampen the SOS pad and gently remove the dirt. Rinse the area well with clean water when the debris is loosened.

  • Apply isopropyl alcohol to a soft clean cloth and wipe the windshield down before rinsing with clear water.

  • Apply Bon Ami cleanser (it can be purchased from most grocery stores) with a dampened soft cloth or sponge. Rinse the windshield thoroughly with clear water when all the debris is loosened.

  • Mix ½ cup baking soda with a quart of warm water and gently wipe the windshield with the solution and a sponge. Rinse the area with clean water.
