How to Replace an air Filter in a Cadillac Escalade

Replacing the air filter in a Cadillac Escalade is a quick maintenance task. Cadillac has made it easy to see when the air filter needs to be changed by placing a gauge on the filter housing unit. Check the gauge every 3,000 miles when you drive in extreme conditions, or every 30,000 for normal use.

Things You'll Need

  • Flat head screwdriver
  • New air filter
  • Turn the car off and leave it off while replacing the filter. Don't run the car without the filter in place as it acts as a barrier against engine backfires.

  • Locate the air filter case at the front, right, passenger corner of the car, right in front of the coolant tank. Look at the air filter restriction indicator to see if the filter needs to be changed, when both windows on the gauge are orange it is time to change the filter.

  • Use a flat head screwdriver to unscrew the screws on either side of the air filter case. Set the screws aside in a safe place and remove the lid.

  • Take the old filter out of the case. Clean out any debris that is left behind.

  • Replace the filter with a new air filter that is compatible with the year and model of your Cadillac Escalade. Use a K&N filter number 33-2135 for Escalades that were manufactured between 2002 to 2008.

  • Put the lid back on the Escalade's air filter housing unit. Reinsert and tighten the screws to secure the lid. Press the button on top of the air filter restriction indicator to reset it.
