How to Place a Jack Stand Under a Porsche

Sometimes you need to set your Porsche on a jack stand. You must place a jack at a designated point on the frame underneath a Porsche. For example, the Porsche Boxter has four designated jacking locations. The problem is that if you place the jack under the designated lifting location for a wheel you no longer have a place to put the jack stand to support the vehicle. Fortunately, you can place the hydraulic jack at an alternative location on the frame. This will allow you to place the jack stand under the designated lifting spot.

Things You'll Need

  • Hydraulic jack
  • Jack stands
  • Rubber puck
  • Place a round piece of rubber such as a hockey puck on the head of the hydraulic jack. This will act as a cushion between the jack and the car frame.

  • Place the hydraulic jack just in front of the designated lifting spot for the rear wheel. Lift the car to the desired height. The lifting spots are round indentations on the car frame.

  • Place the jack stand underneath the lifting spot of the car. Lower the car onto the jack stand.

  • Put the hydraulic jack just to the rear of the factory-designated lifting spot of the front wheel. Raise the car to the desired height. Put the jack stand under the lifting point for the front wheel. Lower the Porsche onto the jack stand.

  • Repeat this process for the other wheels. Ensure that the jacks are in the proper location before lowering the car.
