Power Window Problems on a Chevy Truck

Power windows offer the convenience of raising or lowering one or multiple door windows on your vehicle by the turn of a switch or press of a button. Chevy trucks can experience power window problems, which you can often resolve with some time and a little detective work.

Blown Fuse

  • If you flip the power window switch on your Chevy truck and detect no sound, a blown fuse may be to blame. Open the fuse box, typically located beneath the dashboard on the driver side, and replace any darkened fuses.

Bad Control Switch

  • The control switch for your truck's power window may have corroded connectors due to water seepage inside the window. Clean off any corrosion and attach a test light to the connectors. Turn the key in your Chevy truck’s ignition to the "On" position. If the control switch fails to hold a charge, replace it.

Slipped Track

  • The truck power window track secures the window and enables its movement up and down. If you notice wobbling or excessive play in your power window, the glass may have slipped off its track. Remove the door panel, clean any old adhesive off the window glass and reaffix the window into the track with urethane sealant.
