Tightening nuts and bolts on the chassis and body and inspecting engine filter are necessary during the 45,000-mile check for Highlanders that drive in a lot of dust. Vehicles that tow need a rear and transfer case oil replacement and nuts-and-bolts tightening on the chassis and body if this hasn't already occurred because of other conditions.
Highlanders with V-6 engines require an oil change and filter replacement at the 45,000 mark if they didn't use 0W-20 oil in the previous oil change or if they frequently drive in dust, idle and/or drive slowly for long periods of time.
