How do I Check the Transmission Fluid in a 2007 Dodge Caliber?

The 2007 Dodge Caliber is a small car that, like all other vehicles, needs regular routine maintenance in order to prevent problems and maximize the life of the car. Most Dodge Calibers have a manual transmission. Checking the transmission fluid on a regular basis is one way to avoid problems that occur when the fluid is low or it runs out completely. This is a simple task that you can do it home in minutes.

Things You'll Need

  • Clean rag
  • Transmission fluid (optional)
  • Start your 2007 Dodge Caliber and let the engine warm up for several minutes. Transmission fluid expands as it warms, and it is always checked with the engine running after it has warmed up.

  • Pull the hood release under the driver's dash. Exit the vehicle, lift the hood and prop it open.

  • Remove the transmission fluid fill plug or dipstick. Wipe the dipstick clean with a rag, reinsert it and pull it out. You should be able to see fluid on the dipstick between the bottom hole and no more than 3/16 of an inch below the bottom of the hole.

  • Add Mopar ATF+4 MS9602 transmission fluid if the level is lower than recommended. Replace the transmission fluid fill plug when finished and lower the hood.
