How to Load a Motorcycle into a Cargo Van

When you plan to move, go on a vacation or take your motorcycle to a bike show, you may not want to drive your motorcycle the long distance. Trailers are fairly expensive and you will need safety harnesses and licensing. An easy solution is loading your motorcycle into the back end of a cargo van. With all the seats out of the rear end of a cargo van, you can easily park your bike in the back and fit your own luggage beside the bike.

Things You'll Need

  • Wrench set
  • Motorcycle ramp
  • Unscrew any seats or benches from the rear of your cargo van. They are bolted into the floor of the van with a bolt at each corner.

  • Put the parking brake on in the cargo van. Open the rear doors on the cargo van.

  • Place the top edge of the motorcycle ramp on the top of the rear bumper.

  • Squeeze the motorcycle clutch or put it in neutral. Firmly grasp the handle bars of the bike.

  • Have a friend push the bike from behind and push the bike up the ramp as you steer it into the van. Roll the bike as close to one side as you can.

  • Put out the kick stand on the bike once its all the way in. Secure the bike in place so it doesn't tip over while you're driving.
