How to Use 5W30 Oil in a Mercedes E320

To help keep your engine running smoothly, it's important to regularly check your oil level and add new oil to your engine if it needs to be refilled. The E320's engine uses a total of 8 to 8.5 quarts of oil. Among the approved oil weights for the E320 is the 5w30 weight, an oil weight ideal for temperate climates without much humidity.

Things You'll Need

  • 1 to 8 quarts of oil, dependent on your need
  • Paper towels
  • Funnel
  • Park your car on a level surface, turn it off, and open the hood.

  • Remove the dipstick from your engine and wipe it clean with a paper towel.

  • Place the dipstick back into its shaft and remove it. Examine your engine oil level to determine how much oil you will need to add.

  • Put the dip stick back into place and remove the cap on your oil filler neck. The cap has an oil icon inscribed at the top of it.

  • Place the funnel into the oil filler neck and slowly pour the 5w30 oil into your engine through the funnel.

  • Put the oil cap back on and ensure it's snugly closed when you are done filling it with the necessary amount of oil, then shut the car's hood.
