How to Turn Off the Oil Change Message in a Mercury Monterey

The Monterey was a minivan built by Ford and sold under their Mercury brand from 2004 to 2007. The Mercury Monterey is equipped with an information center that reminds owners when service is due. If a service technician forgets to reset the system after your vehicle has been serviced, you can learn to turn off the oil change message yourself.

  • Turn the ignition key to the accessory position in your vehicle. This will give the electronics in your vehicle power without cranking the engine.

  • Locate the information center controls near the steering wheel (Info/Reset/Setup). Press the Setup button to access the systems check. Then, press and hold "Reset" until the message "Oil Life % Remaining" is displayed.

  • Press the "Reset" button again, until the message "If New Oil" is displayed. Hold the "Reset" button again for 2 seconds until the message "Oil Life Reset to 100%" is displayed. The system is now turned off and will not appear again until your next oil change is due.
