The Saturn Vue is a sport utility vehicle, or SUV, that like any other car requires timely maintenance and servicing. Knowing the maintenance intervals for your Saturn will ensure the fuel economy, engine and other components will last an extended amount of time. Keeping up with scheduled maintenance on your vehicle also prevents major damage, which will keep you from being without a car or with an unexpected expense to repair. The Saturn brand, including the Vue, was discontinued in 2009.
When the check engine oil light comes up on your instrument panel, have your engine checked and oil changed within 600 miles. If you are driving your Vue under normal conditions or ensuring the car is maintained, you may not need to change your oil for an entire year, according to Saturn. The oil filter and oil must be changed at least once a year. If the change oil indicator is not reset or reset accidentally, you'll need to service your vehicle every 3,000 miles.
Perform a "maintenance II" check if it is 10 months after your Saturn issued a check oil light warning or other maintenance indicators like checking the coolant. In a maintenance II schedule, a mechanic will change the engine oil and filter, check for any leaks, check and change the fuel filter, rotate and check the tire pressure, inspect the brake system, and check the engine fluid, cooling system, steering, wiper blades, restraint system and transaxle fluid.
Every 25,000 miles, the fuel system and exhaust system needs to be checked for any leaks or damage. Every 50,000 miles, the air filter should be checked. Every 25,000 miles, the automatic transaxle fluid needs to be checked; it should be changed at the 100,000-mile mark. If your vehicle has a V-6 engine, the automatic transaxle fluid must be changed every 25,000 miles. Spark plugs must be replaced every 100,000 miles. The timing belt must be replaced every 50,000 to 100,000 miles. Check your starter switch once a year.
