Signal Lights

  • On Aug. 28, 2003 General Motors issued a recall due to malfunctioning hazard warning switches. Approximately 670,740 Oldsmobile Alero vehicles were affected. The switches can become cracked when exposed to quick temperature transitions. As a result, the circuit opens. Drivers will be unable to use their turn signals, and the possibility of an accident increases. Contact Oldsmobile at 800-630-6537 for information on repairs.

Fuel Pressure Regulator

  • Delphi issued a recall for some of its fuel pressure regulators on March 12, 2007. The regulators have a tendency to cause fuel leaks. Recall reports state that 742 Oldsmobile Aleros had defective regulators installed. As a result, vehicle fires can occur. Owners of the affected vehicles must contact Delphi at 877-411-8770 to arrange repairs. New universal pressure regulators will be installed free of charge.

Manual Transmission

  • After manual trans-axles failed to meet National Highway Traffic Safety Administration standards, General Motors issued a recall on Nov. 13, 2000. Cars are vulnerable to theft since keys can be removed from the ignition while the transmission is in forward gear. General Motors reported that 216 Oldsmobile Aleros were affected. Dealers will remove the retaining pin and replace the shifter assembly to reverse the inhibitor. Owners must contact General Motors to arrange for repairs at 800-630-6537.
