How to Remove A Severely Stuck Tire

Changing a tire is a very simple procedure, but it can be extremely frustrating when the wheel just won't pop off! When a tire becomes really stuck to the hub, and kicking isn't doing the trick, there is another solution!

Things You'll Need

  • Jack
  • Lug Nut Wrench
  • Phone book (or similar)
  • Loosen the lug nuts on the stuck wheel about 1/2 way.

  • Place the phone book approximately 6 inches in front of the wheel.

  • Start the car, shut off the radio and roll down the windows because you want to be able to hear the tire break free. SLOWLY drive the car over the phone book.

  • If it does not break free at first, put the car in reverse and back over it again. Repeat this process until you hear the tire break free (will make an obvious sound). When you hear the tire break free, stop the car immediately (further driving may damage the studs). Jack the car up and pull off the tire!
