Can You Put Regular Gas in a 2007 C230?

With a full redesign coming the following year, the 2007 Mercedes-Benz C-Class remained relatively unchanged. The C230 was the base model for the luxury sedan lineup, and it featured a 2.5-liter V-6 that delivered 201 horsepower. When refueling your C230, select your gasoline wisely, as Mercedes has some rather specific guidelines for the type of fuel it can use.

Fuel Requirements

  • According to the manufacturer, the 2007 Mercedes-Benz C230 requires gasoline with a 91-octane rating or higher, or E85 ethanol. If this rating of gasoline or E85 ethanol is not available, you may use regular unleaded gasoline. When using regular unleaded gasoline, Mercedes says to only fill the tank partially and fill the tank with 91-octane or E85 ethanol as soon as possible. The manufacturer also says to avoid full-throttle driving and abrupt acceleration; do not exceed engine speeds of more than 3,000 rpm when the vehicle has a light load -- two people and no luggage, for example -- and do not press the accelerator pedal more than two-thirds of its travel under a heavy load on hilly terrain.
