We sometimes get the distinct feeling Europeans keep some of the best stuff for themselves. Americans are still crying about Ford's Escort Cosworth, BMW's M3 CSL, and Audi's V10 turbodiesel, great hardware that never came to play with American fans.

Autoglym was another Euro-only product. We in the States could only get a tiny taste of Autoglym, typically after purchasing an Aston Martin, Bentley, Rolls Royce, or Jaguar. Autoglym is officially endorsed by said manufacturers with its waxes and polishes often applied to factory-fresh vehicles.

We've seen Autoglym's distinct logo on Europe's most popular motorsport events. F1, Touring car, World Rally, and so on, so we know they have good taste in venues. Word now has it that Autoglym is coming to America. Should we care?

I've had a small container of Autoglym wax in my garage for six years. I know this because it moved with me from my first house, a time when I trashed most everything so I wouldn't have to pack it. Why the stuff has lasted so long is testament to its sound formulation and chemistry. A dime-sized glob of Autoglym wax can be spread over an entire car. Autoglym was founded in 1965 by a UK Motor Trade entrepreneur who developed a unique system for renovating used car paintwork. The company mastered its craft serving professional detailers before it branched out into a select consumer retail market.

Priced near fifty bucks, it may seem a bit pricey for a smallish can of wax. However, a jar of Hi-Def lasts for more than fifty applications and features a complex blend of durable polymers, carnauba and microcrystalline waxes, hydrocarbons, and oils. No idea what all that means; we just know that the stuff leaves a great finish. Moreover, it seems to last after multiple car washes so constant reapplication is not necessary.
