Until recently, the curse of the DMV left our SRT-4 to sit in registration purgatory, but now we can actually drive this car legally on the streets, thanks to repeated visits and countless hours spent sitting next to people who smell worse than the dumpster outside our building. What a great country we live in. That's the good part. The bad part is we actually have to get off our lazy asses and start preparing this car to blossom into a beautiful butterfly. Wait, uh, we didn't say that. What we're really trying to do is get the SRT-4 down, dirty, and ready for the track.

The first things people add to their cars are wheels and suspension, so we decided to do the same. We don't want the car to look too stock. Needless to say, we needed the cream of the crop parts because we are still stuck up.

Work Emotion CR Wheels and Kumho Ecsta V700 TiresEverything we add to this SRT-4 will be selected with form and function in mind. Take the Work Emotion CR wheels. Not only are they lightweight (only 19 pounds for 17-inch), but they're strong enough to take the abuse from tracks and LA streets. If you don't believe us, you can fly to Japan and see for yourself how many race cars use these wheels. We'll be right and you'll be out $1,500 for the plane ticket, so you might as well just take our word for it. Also, the car is going to remain silver, and the gunmetal face on the Emotion CR wheels are the perfect complement. Plus, we can paint the car pretty much any color and the wheels will still match. Now all we had to do was to get some rubbers. We're talking about tires, you freaks. It was voted unanimously by our edit staff that we use the super-sticky Kumho Ecsta V700 tires because of the performance they provide on the track. We've heard plenty of good things about these tires from road racers, so we decided that we should put them to the test. We'll let you know how they do once we get a chance to get onto the tarmac. Another great thing about these tires is that they're very inexpensive. That means if you make minimum wage like everyone on the Super Street edit staff, you can still afford to hit the track with high-performance tires.

Mopar Coilovers
For many people, having an aftermarket suspension simply means their car is going to be lower than before. Maybe they'll have to angle a little bit more out of driveways and go a lot slower over speed bumps. For us, it's much more than that. We've mentioned on several occasions that we're bad drivers, so we need all the help we can get when it comes to making it around the track. The suspension setup will make the biggest difference in handling if it is top quality and set up properly. These Mopar coilovers were developed by KW Suspension in order to provide the most durable pieces available. The Stage 3 package we went with are fully height and tension adjustable, so we can tweak everything to suit our driving characteristics.

Stay Tuned
We're going to try and keep this project ball rolling, and the next step is to install an Injen intake and Mopar exhaust. We'll be back complete with dyno sheets.

AKH Trading came through for us again with these 17-inch Work Emotion CR wheels. Not only are they strong and light, they're the perfect size and offset to clear the abnormally large stock brakes of the SRT-4. Ours will look even better after we figure out how to put these damn stickers on.

These coilovers (P4510586) from Mopar are exactly what we need to pounce the tarmac. They're fully height and tension adjustable, so even Jonny will be able to make a full lap. The unique design from KW Suspension makes these coilovers very durable, which should help out when we roll off into the gravel.
