2009 GMC Sierra Buildup - Special Delivery

Brian Cyr of Vista, California, has wanted a customized HD truck for a very long time. He spent many hours imagining how he would go about modifying the truck with personal touches that match his needs: a 6-inch lift to get the correct ride height, tires that looked just right, electric steps...you get the picture. Maybe you're sitting there scheming out the perfect truck for you as we speak.   |   Before After years of thinking about it (and saving a bunch of money), Brian finally ordered the truck-with the help of Bill Barr at North County GMC in Escondido, California-exactly the way he wanted it: with a crew cab, standard bed, four-wheel drive, Sonoma Red Metallic paint job, and every available factory option (including navigation, backup camera, DVD player, sunroof, electric sliding rear window, and all of the trailering options). But that wasn't the end of the story. Brian planned an all-out assault for installing aftermarket items that would truly make the truck a unique rig. The first stop was Collisions Plus in Escondido where Ryan Hensch color-sanded the truck and buffed it to a perfect shine. Then he added Denali door side moldings that were color-matched to the truck. Next up was Tag Motorsports, also in Escondido, for the installation of a host of parts. Tag installed the 6-inch lift from CST and included a set of Bilstein shocks. Tag also installed the Titan Fuel Tanks 52-gallon behemoth.   |   After But the Tag crew wasn't done. They installed the Amp Research electric steps with the optional LED lights that make nighttime entry and exit much safer and mounted and balanced the BFGoodrich A/T tires on the KMC XD Chrome Badlands wheels and bolted them up to the truck. After the lift and wheel/tire swap, Tag also aligned the truck. Brian documented much of the work with his camera, and 8-Lug shared in the duties, too. The next series of pages will give you an idea what it's like to go from a stock truck to a custom road warrior in just a few days.
