Hypertechs HyperPAC - Hype Up Engine Performance

hypertech Hyperpac driver   |   hypertech Hyperpac driver In years past, it was a major effort of both time and money to increase your vehicle's torque and horsepower by physically removing and replacing engine components like the camshaft, intake manifold, carburetor, injectors, and exhaust. Today's truck aftermarket computer programmer plug 'n' play technology has been elevated to the next level of modern gasoline and diesel engine performance. Hypertech is one of the innovative leaders in today's electronic computer performance aftermarket. The Hypertech programmer makes adjustments to a vehicle's air/fuel ratio and spark timing. By working with these three factors, the Hypertech programmer is able to increase the engine's horsepower and torque. hypertech Hyperpac kit   |   Hypertech's HyperPAC comes complete with "Power Programmer" mini-monitor, diagnostic port cable, windshield mount, and mounting hardware. The next generation of Hypertech's evolution is the HyperPAC. PAC stands for "Performance Automotive Computer." It is not just a tuning programmer; it is a mini-computer with its own operating system and parameters, like a PC. There are other devices that will reprogram your truck's computer, but the HyperPAC does more. It's as simple as plugging the HyperPAC into the onboard diagnostic port of your truck. This will allow you to tune the engine for maximum power and performance. Hypertech's latest touch 'n' go technology allows you to adjust the rev limiter, transmission shift points, transmission shift firmness, and the speed governor for performance. The HyperPAC will also let you adjust the speedometer and odometer for changes to the stock gear ratio and tire size. The HyperPAC gives you the ability to adjust your engine's performance "on the fly" through three power selections (stages one, two, and three), which is valuable when towing up a steep grade or if you need extra power on the highway when passing. We contacted Simon Purvis at Trader's Sport Trucks in Santa Fe Springs, California, to assist us with the simple Hypertech HyperPAC installation. After inserting a fresh memory card in my Canon 10D, I was ready to follow along as Ox Higginson installed and pre-programmed the HyperPAC. Following the no-brainer installation, we took the '06 Chevy Silverado HD 4x4 6.6L Duramax diesel for a test drive. As we rolled out of the parking lot, Ox selected stage one of the three power/torque modes. There was a noticeable increase in power and torque. After driving for 10 minutes at stage one, Ox switched to stage two, which was felt instantly. The powerband and shift points came on quicker. Then, finally, Ox touched the HyperPAC screen display pad and switched to stage three. The 6.6L Duramax and Allison transmission transformed into a drivetrain on steroids. The torque and power slammed us in our seats! While enjoying the power and torque increase, it was amazing to be able to visually account for the "real time" vital signs of the engine and transmission.
The HyperPAC "Tuning" program also allows adjustments to:
* Rpm rev limiter
* Transmission's shift points and shift firmness
* Electric cooling fan on/off temperatures (for a cooler thermostat)
* Speedometer and odometer to correct (as required by federal law) for non-stock tire sizes and gear ratio change
* Vehicle's top-speed limiter to match the speed rating of high-performance tires
Dragstrip:
* This program segment will simulate a real dragstrip. A "Christmas tree" start produces an exact duplication of a dragstrip (reaction times at 650 feet; 330 feet; 1/8-mile; 1,000 feet; and 1/4-mile speeds and e.t.'s).
*The HyperPAC will also display "magazine-type road test" acceleration times in 10-mph increments - zero to 10, 20, 30, etc. - 'til you get out of the throttle.
* All test sessions are automatically recorded and saved for later comparisons and review.
Dynamometer:
* Calculates horsepower and torque at both the driving (power) wheels and engine.
* "Dynamometer" mode will automatically display in both tables and graphs: correct horsepower and torque versus rpm at the engine, and correct horsepower and torque at driving (power) wheels.
* All dynamometer tests are automatically recorded and saved for later comparisons and review.
Engine Monitor:
* The "Engine Monitor" displays a continuous real-time mode of important operating vital signs like air-fuel ratio, rpm, ignition lock, oil pressure, water temperature, and more.
* Each engine condition can be selected by the user from the menu display. While testing, or to diagnose a problem, touch "Start Recording" to record the event and then touch "Stop Recording."
* All tests are automatically recorded and saved for later comparison and review.
Diagnostics:
* Gives you the ablity to read and clear diagnostics trouble codes.
* It also provides an easy-to-understand description written in plain layman's terms, so there is no need for shop manuals or service department translation to explain to you what the darn codes mean.
