Rebuilding A Ford 7.3L Diesel Engine On A Budget

Last month we honed the cylinder bores on our International 7.3L IDI diesel engine. This process took the glaze off the walls and left a good surface for our new piston rings to contact. This time we assessed the condition of the bores by measuring them to the ten thousandth of an inch. The tools we used included a vernier micrometer, a telescoping gauge, and a dial bore gauge.
