Channellock 30-Inch Adjustable Wrench - Tool Of The Month

Truckin is all about the biggest and the baddest. Just like Americans need 48 ounces of their favorite drink at a mall-sized convenience store, or a truck that could tow your house down the street, bigger is darn near always better. In the tool world, we tend to stick our chests out a little more than normal when we know we possess the latest and greatest tool. It should come as no surprise then to hear that one of the tool world’s oldest and most successful brands has launched tools of epic proportions. Cue the famous “That’s not a knife” quote from the ’80s movie Crocodile Dundee, because when you open your toolbox and pull out Channellock’s new bad boys, you’re instantly going to create tool envy for everyone at the shop, construction site, or oilfield. Though at Channellock they are technically known as tongue and groove pliers, we simply refer to any type of leverage gripping pliers as Channellocks. Recently, several new sizes were added, including a 16.5-inch set (PN:460), and our favorites, the Big Azz 480, measuring in at a colossal 20.25 inches long. The 480 has an incredible 5.5 inches of capacity, which means if you have the strength and leverage, you can tighten (or loosen) some serious hardware. As we do here in the Land of the Free, Channellock is proud to claim all its pliers are fiercely made in Meadville, Pennsylvania. 30 Inch Adjustable Wrench   |   30 Inch Adjustable Wrench Pliers are useful and an absolute must in your toolbox, but perhaps the most commonly used tool is the adjustable wrench. All types of nicknames have been assigned to this everyman’s tool, and we can all agree that sometimes -- whether in a pinch or just because we need big-time leverage -- an adjustable wrench is all that is needed to get the job done. Channellock has answered the “How big is your wrench?” question with Thor’s hammer-like authority. We’re proud to introduce the 30-inch adjustable wrench, or simply the 830 as the Channellock folks refer to it. To put it in relatable terms, the largest adjustable wrench we had in our fully stocked shop was a 15-inch, which is still a decent-sized wrench. It doesn’t take a genius to do the math and see that Channellock’s 830 is twice the size of most “large” wrenches. Weighing in at a full 12 pounds, the 830 is an absolute beast. With this wrench in your toolbox, you feel like there is no nut or bolt too big and no obstacle in your way that can stop you from completing the job at hand. If you work on big trucks, do serious work at your job, or simply want the biggest and the best, check out Channellock’s full line of pliers and wrenches at a retailer near you. The U.S. dollar bill is a little more than 6 inches in length. To help put the size of the Channellock 830 adjustable wrench to scale, we laid a dollar bill under the wrench and let the 30-inch wrench simply dwarf it. This thing is legit! If comfort and ergonomics are high on your must-have list, the new Code Blue line of Channellock tools is for you. With a thick and comfortable handle, the 12-inch Code Blue adjustable wrench also features measurement scales, wide-opening jaws, and thinner jaws to get into hard-to-reach areas. Pictured here are three of Channellock’s most famous tools: the tongue and groove pliers. The Big Azz 480 at the top is 20.25 inches long and has a jaw capacity of 5.5 inches.
