Key Management Simplified By Bolt

How many times have you performed a long mental checklist that included your trailer hitch lock key, spare tire lock key, equipment cable lock key, and more? Annoying, isn’t it? One downside to owning a lot of toys and tools is that protecting them can quickly overwhelm your key ring. Strattec, a Milwaukee-based company, created a revolutionary lock called the Breakthrough One-key Lock Technology, or Bolt lock, which eliminates the need to carry more than one key with you. Bolt locks are designed to simplify your life by allowing users to unlock everything, including: padlocks, cable locks, spare tire locks, trailer locks, receiver locks, and motorcycle disc brake locksall with the exact same key: your truck’s ignition key.   |   Bolt locks adapt themselves to the ignition key of more than 70 percent of all Chrysler, Ford, and GM vehicles. Bolt locks include a ½-inch and a 5⁄8-inch receiver lock, spare tire lock, padlock, motorcycle wheel lock, and a 6-foot cable lock. Strattec is the world’s largest supplier of locks and keys for the automotive industry. Bolt locks have a patented cylinder that adapts itself to the ignition key of more than 70 percent of all Ford, GM, and Chrysler vehicles, making them compatible with more than 100 million vehicles, including nearly 90 percent of all light- and heavy-duty trucks on the road. All the locks in the Bolt lock series are made using automotive-grade cylinders and shutters and a rugged outer jacket, which make them corrosion-resistant, and six-plate tumblers make them incredibly difficult to pick or bump. Programming the Bolt locks could not be any simpler: insert your truck’s ignition key, turn it once, and the lock is set. Any number of padlocks or other locks in the series can be set by the owner to a single key.   |   To ensure compatibility of the Bolt lock and the truck ignition key, just compare your key to the one on the back of the package. We received a set of Bolt locks and were a bit skeptical at first about how easy they were supposed to be to program, but according to the instructions, it only takes three easy steps. Today, a Bolt lock owner can use one key to lock the spare tire, toolbox, trailer hitch, motorcycle, storage shed, gate, rod or gun lockeryou get the idea.
