2008 ford f-250 - Suncoast Transmission Swap

This ’08 Ford has had many transmissions go out, so the owner stepped up to a Sun Coast unit to end the cycle When John Miller added a few tuner items to his Ford F-250 he didn’t think he’d gone too far, but it didn’t take long for the transmission to go out. And then go out again. And again. Clearly, he couldn’t keep going on like this. After the third trans went in behind his 6.4L, he decided not to push his luck and ordered a complete 5R110 TorqShift transmission from Sun Coast Diesel Transmissions in Florida. Sun Coast was founded in 1989 on the premise that quality in manufacturing, durability, and performance was the only consideration in torque converter production. By responding to a market that demanded a superior product, Sun Coast has enjoyed continuous growth and success since its beginning. With the introduction of light-duty diesel trucks in the early ’90s, Sun Coast responded to the increasing demands for torque converters and transmissions that would enhance the performance and durability of light-duty diesel trucks. Production began in limited capacity and, as reputation and demand grew, so did the company. Starting with two guys and 2,500 square feet, Sun Coast has grown to more than 20 employees and more than 20,000 square feet. Sun Coast does not outsource, so every torque converter and transmission is built to exacting specifications. Each unit is dyno tested after final assembly. For this application, the Sun Coast trans has a TransGo shift kit to prevent the low and reverse snap ring lug from blowing off and destroying the case, a modified direct solenoid, and a modified EPC solenoid. In addition, an SCD billet inline filter kit was included to assure the solenoids are protected from foreign material. The kit includes a spin-on filter and all the parts needed for an easy install. John took the truck to Mike Lovrich at Inglewood Transmission for the install. Mike L, as everyone calls him, is “The Man” when it comes to automatic transmissions, and all you have to do is Google “Inglewood Transmission” and you will find plenty of testimonials to his awesomeness. Most of the time he’s praised for his Allison transmission work, but he can do anything. If you have very special needs, he is more than willing to talk through the whole process and then special order a variety of parts to put together the exact solution to your problem. Installing the trans was nothing more exciting than a usual trans swap -- everything bolts right in and it worked perfect right out of the box. And chances are this is the end of problems for John’s F-250.
