Auto Insurance Claims: Accident in driveway, driveway paving, stationary object

Question
I was reversing my car out of the driveway and I bumped into a car that was parked on the road reserve outside my boundary wall. I did not see the car as it was behind the wall. When the actual contact occurred two-thirds of my car was still inside my propoerty and all four wheels were in the driveway paving. Am i liable for the damages.

Answer
Hi Zuks,

Yes, you are liable.

Anytime you hit any stationary object or another car, even if that car is illegally parked, you are considered to be at fault. It does not matter where your tires are or how far out of a parking space you are.

I hope this helps
