Auto Insurance Claims: should i file an insurance claim, wheel rim, slick spot

Question
I was making a left turn and hit a slick spot and slid and bumped into the curb and damaged the front passenger wheel/rim. The rim is around 800 dollars not including labor.

Answer
Hi Jay,

You should have the suspension of the vehicle checked out to be sure there was no other damage. If no other damage exists, you should not file a claim. Any claim would be subject to your deductible. So if you have a $500.00 decustible the insurance comapny will only pay $300.00 and you would pay the balance. Then the insurance company would consider this to be an at-fault event and would increase your rates for the next 3 years.

I hope this helps
