Auto Insurance Claims: Total loss, Total loss

Question
I have loss some reciepts for my modifications, some of the mods were baught at shows or swap meets for cash. So I do not have all the recipts. I also have an addtional custom policy for 15k on top of my full coverage. so all the modifications could be done to my vehicle. What do I do?

Answer
Hello Mike,

you have a duty to proof your loss. If you don't have reciepts or anyway to show that you did the modifications, you should contact an attorney about what you need to do to get the modifications covered. Insurance companies do no cover unsubstantiated damages.

There is usually ways that you can talk to the insurance company, for example, pictures, the people who did the work (what shop, what mechanic, who painted the car), etc.

If you paid for everything cash and you did the modifications yourself, you may be at peril of no coverage. If you talked to people or stores, the insurance company can verify with them.

Talk to a local attorney
Good Luck
