Auto Insurance Claims: multiple collisions, multiple collisions

Question
I was rear ended by a semi truck while I was at a dead stop. We were coming off the highway on the off ramp but stopped for construction work that was happening at the exit. The truck hit me 3 times! He saw the others cars pull off and forgot I was there. ( yes he was that close!) He said he thought he was hitting a curb. There was not extensive damage to the car only $2300.00 but I had a pinched nerve in my leg and a swollen knee( which I continue to feel every now and then) and also blood in urine(probably from bruised kidneys) after all medical care $5300.00 and five months later wearing a brace and more! I finally get to settle but my real question is do I ask for more since he hit me more than once? I didn't miss much work since I can work from home and it happened on a weekend(12hours total) so I am confused if I should base it on that or if the amount has something to do with the amount of times he hit me.

Answer
Hello Naomi,

Well, you are owed for your injuries. If the same injury was caused by three impacts, then they owe you once (one payment). If each impact caused a different injury, then you need to be compensated for each injury.

The fact that you were hit three times, by itself, will not likely increase any settlement.
