Auto Insurance Claims: auto accident, policy limits

Question
I was in a serious accident a couple of months ago. I would like to know how insurance policy limits work. If the at fault persons B/I coverage is 100k per person and 300k total per accident and I was the only person in my car,is the 100k the limit I can ask for or can I go for the whole 300k?

Answer
Duane,

$100K per person is it.  This is the maximum one person can get for a liability claim.  If there were three people in the car, all would be able to get a maximum of $100K each, but if there were 6 people, then the maximum payout would still be $300K.
