Auto Insurance Claims: funds held in a trust, florida public services, property damages

Question
I was involved in a accident being rear ended in July of 09, my insurance carrier State Farm recently agreed to settle my UM limits of 25000.00. only after my attorney filed a complaint with Florida Public Services Commission, in addition my attorney is seeking a bad faith claim against the insurance carrier of the person who hit me, I am having surgery for a cervical fusion soon as this is a result of the accident,
My Question is,  what is this case worth the and why is my attorney keeping the 25,000.00 in a trust and how long do they hold it

Answer
Tim,

For liability reasons, I suggest you not take my opinion as "legal advice" or the last word. Get an attorneys opinion. That said, IMO, your injury portion of your claim is usually worth 2 to 4 times the "medical and non-medical special damages". Could be less if you have a criminal record, more if you are a lovable character. However much a jury would like or dislike you personally!

I have no idea about the trust, perhaps because you are under age, or something in your contract about funds received?

Property damages are dollar for dollar. If you get lowballed on the value of your car (if a total loss), get the eBook at UClaim.com on Total Loss Auto.
