Auto Insurance Claims: Compelling information in an Auto Insurance Claim, Compelling information in an Auto Insurance Claim

Question
My son was in a car accident, he has 2 bulging disc and lost his opportunity to go into the
Army.  He has accrued to date $9000 in medical bills and lost his job because he was told by the doctor not to lift more than 30 pounds.  He is out of money for medical treatment, lost his apartment and is currently unemployed because of his injuries.  We asked for $30,000 from the car insurance company.  There is  no question about fault and they are now offering $19,200 dollar unless we have something compelling to justify movement on the offer.   What does an insurance company consider compelling?

Answer
Hello Terry,

Compelling means nothing. The insurance company is playing the settlement game with you. For what you outlined, your son has more injuries and future medical treatment. Sometimes the only way to compel them is to get an attorney.

You could try to settle the claim yourself, see: http://www.settleyourowninjuryclaim.com/ or you can hire an attorney, see: http://www.auto-insurance-claim-advice.com/find-a-lawyer.html Both scenarios have pros an cons that you should consider.

I hope this helps.

Good Luck
Anne
