Auto Insurance Claims: Auto insurance coverage, auto insurance coverage, own insurance

Question
My 19 year old son works, lives at home, has his car titled in his name, has pays for his own insurance.  Would we be held at all liable if he is in an accident?  Is the answer different if he pays rent? We live in Virginia.
Thank you.

Answer
No, because he has his own policy.  His work status and rent are irrelevant.  The coverage follows the vehicle, so if he has an accident with his car, his policy handles it.  If he uses one of your vehicles and has an accident, then your policy would cover it.
